Launch of new BME Network in South East England
On 12th March the new South East region BME ntework UNI held their launch conference at Baylis House, Stoke Poges Lane, Slough.
One of the primary aims of the conference was to introduce “UNI” to all of the BME VCS, local and regional stakeholders. Delegates had the opportunity to see and comment on UNI’s three year business plan, and the event enabled those who contributed to the research under the ChangeUp Additional Support Programme to see the progression and development of the BME network.
The conference also provided the opportunity for key dialogue within the south east region on the future role of the BME voluntary/community sector (VCS) in the Third Sector arena and begin to visualise what the future may look like.
The V4CE Partnership was well represented, with both V4CE Director Vandna Gohil and BTEG Director Jeremy Crook making presentations. Other speakers included Dev Sharma MBE, Chair of UNI, and Jacqueline McFarlane, Chair of Black Practioners and Learners' Network.
