Runnymede Trust event

Do you think we can end racism in a generation? Come tell us in our race equality  'pop-up shop' in Croydon town centre between 3-7 November at 3 Katherine Street, Croydon, CR0 1NX.

The Runnymede Trust, a leading race equality charity, has taken over an empty shop and has temporarily converted it into an exciting discussion hub. Pop in anytime between 3-7 November for  a chat over a free cup of tea and slice of cake, or come to one of our planned events:

  • Launch of our documentary  'Is Croydon Racist?'  featuring Linford Christie, followed by a Q&A with Gavin Barwell MP and others (Friday 4 November, 6.30-8.30pm).
  • Have your say on the recent riots at our informal drop-in discussion (Saturday 5 November, 2pm.)
  • Got a view on stop and search? Come to the launch of a new film on the issue, followed by a debate (Sunday 6 November, 2pm).

The North West Infrastructure Partnership commissioned the Centre for Local Economic Strategies and the Centre for Local Policy Studies to research the impact of current policy on equalities and the specialist organisations that deliver to some of our most marginalised communities.Dan Silver from One North West

The research process lasted eight months, included 15 issue-specific focus groups, and involved over two hundred and fifty voluntary and community sector organisations from across the North West and looked at:

  • The equalities impact of policy agendas around localism, big society, welfare, health, and economic growth;
  • The socio-economic implications of a reduced focus on equality;
  • The values of equalities focused voluntary and community sector organisations;
  • The applicability of impacts and implications to the North West

Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) civil society organisations play an important role in providing services for offenders, ex-offenders and their families. Some BAME communities experience disproportionately adverse outcomes throughout the justice system through their interface with the police, courts and prisons.
